Invisalign® and Veneers
Veneers are thin coverings placed over the front of your teeth, often for cosmetic improvements. If you already have veneers, Invisalign can still work as long as your veneers are stable and properly bonded. The aligners are custom-made to fit your smile, and they don’t rely on tooth structure alone. However, we may need to use a gentler approach to avoid damaging the veneers.
If you’re planning to get veneers after orthodontic treatment, Invisalign can help position your teeth first, giving better long-term results.
Invisalign and Crowns
Crowns cover the entire tooth and are typically used for structural protection. Like veneers, existing crowns don’t rule you out for Invisalign. The main concern is how attachments (small, tooth-colored buttons used to help guide movement) will adhere. In most cases, they can be bonded safely to crowns using a different material. A dental evaluation will determine the best method based on the crown’s location and condition.
Invisalign and Dental Implants
Dental implants are different because they are anchored in the jaw and don’t move like natural teeth. So, while implants can’t shift, the natural teeth around them can. Invisalign can still be used to align the rest of your teeth without affecting the implant. This is often done before an implant is placed, but even if you already have one or more implants, Invisalign may still be an option with a customized plan.
